... Well, that basically sums things up. At least Duke won and Greg did well.

P.S. Natasha, that Jimmy Dean thing is grooooooss.

You've never double-clicked your mouse?!

Hahaha, American Pie is a hilarious movie. Last night, instead of doing homework, I opted for slacking off and watching a movie (specifically, that movie for the first time), because Mondays SUCK. A little review of my day yesterday...

7:00 am   -- Woke up
7:30 am   -- Got out of bed, showered, got dressed, got ready for the day, etc.
8:00 am   -- Read the news with Eric for our International Relations class
8:45 am   -- Had breakfast
9:30 am   -- Went to class (International Relations)
10:30 am -- Went to class (Medieval History)
11:30 am -- Had half a bagel while doing Folklore reading
12:30 pm -- Went to class (Folklore)
1:30 pm   -- Went to the music building and practiced piano for 2 hours
3:30 pm   -- Went to my piano lesson (which went almost half an hour over!)
5:00 pm   -- Finally got back to the dorm

Umm... yuck. I was soooo exhausted, it was ridiculous. On the plus side, my lesson went really well, and my teacher said that in February, some famous pianist is coming to UW to perform and then giving a master class (which is essentially a lesson with a big audience), and they want two or three piano students from the entire school to play, and guess what... I'm going to be one of them! Yay me! :o) It made me happy.

Anyways, today's not going to be much better; I woke up at 7 again, had three classes back to back to back, so I didn't get to eat lunch until 1:30, and now I'm at the library, and I'm planning on staying until who-knows-when... Sigh.

This sucks.

Fuck. Duke played Virginia Tech today, it went into OT, and then we lost. I hate it when we lose. I mean, we really didn't play spectacularly (at least, Josh and Greg didn't... Poor Greggie...), but I really thought that we would get away with a win when Demarcus made that beautiful 3-pointer that sent the game into OT. Stupid Hokies. I suppose it's better that we lost early in the season rather than later, but still... Sigh.

So, after a not-so-great start to my Saturday, I am now at the library, preparing to study my ass off, maybe until they kick me out when they close... I really, really want to stay on top of everything this quarter, so if that means I'll be spending all of Saturday and maybe all of Sunday at the library, so be it. Besides, Eric's working until 5:30 tonight. I really wish I knew how to study more efficiently, or at least how to study just as efficiently while other people are around. But I get distracted even when I'm by myself, so I guess I won't have too much luck with that. Or, I guess I wish I was smarter, and I could just listen to lecture and skim through the textbook and BAM!, remember and understand everything. Right now, after three days of three classes, I feel pretty secure about the first lecture of my History class, and that's about it. And that's why I'm getting ready to study my ass off.

First week, Check.

Hooray, I made it through my first week (3 days, but whatever) of classes! And they're hard, but it should be alright. It's just a lot of reading (side note: The guy who wrote World Politics? Yeah, I want to shoot him in the face.) In any case, completing the first week of classes really isn't all that exciting, considering I have 10 more to go or something like that, but hey, it's something. I've decided I'm going to face things with a positive attitude this year. Call it a resolution.

Speaking of the new year, this one is different for me, for whatever reason. Like, you know how normally, when you go back to school after Winter Break, when you write down the date you still want to write down the last year? I know I always did that, but this year actually feels like 2007. It's weird, and I'm not sure how I feel about it, but whatever. And at this point, I obviously have nothing good to say, if I'm rambling about years and stuff, so I think I shall go study.

First day of classes!

That's right, Winter Quarter at UW started today. But actually, being the big dork that I am, I was really excited for classes, and I'm not feeling too bummed about having  to do reading. At least, not yet. And here's my New Year's resolution: I'm going to be super-studious. As in, I'm going to do all the assigned work when it's assigned, I'm go to study regularly so I don't have to cram for finals, I'm going to go to all my classes, and all that good stuff. I have a pretty new planner and everything. It's going to be great.

Oh, and I'm really, really happy about my new room organization, 'cause now all the study stuff (including a new Apple optical mouse and keyboard for my MacBoook when I'm at my desk) is either at my desk or on my bookshelf, which is right next to my desk, and all the other stuff is nicely organized in my giant, chunky wardrobe thing. And I've got lots of pictures up, hooray! It's all very exciting.

Funny story from my Folklore class: So I'm sitting in one of these old-school classrooms, right? Like, the kind you see in movies about people in college, which I found pretty exciting. In any case, I'm sitting there, waiting for class to start, and all of a sudden, the guy sitting next to me turns to me, and the following conversation ensues:
    Guy: What's you're name?!
    Me: ... Amy...
    Guy: I'm Justin.
Me: ... Nice to meet you...
    Justin: What year are you?!
    Me: ... Freshman...
    Justin: I'm a senior.
    Me: ... Oh...
Justin: Do  you live in the dorms?!
    Me: ... Yeah...
    Justin: Which one?!
    Me: ... Lander...
So, it wasn't really that strange of a conversation, apart from the whole this-feels-like-an-interrogation thing. But at this point, the professor started talking, so I, being the studious girl that I am, turned to listen to him. And then, halfway through the class, Justin passes me a note, which read as follows:
This guy is killing me! Can I have your email and your screen name in case I fall asleep?
And  I was like... What?

Oh, and speaking of classes, if anyone cares, this quarter, I'm taking:
    Introduction to International Relations
    History of the Medieval World
    Introduction to Folklore
    Piano

As a general rule, you won't be able to reach me before 1:30 in the afternoon.

And yeah, that's pretty much it for my first day of classes. Odd at times, but not that bad. And the International Relations class was fun, since Eric's in it, too.

P.S. I make THE best baked rigatoni EVER. It's not just bragging. Eric and I cooked it last night, and then our friends ate most of it, and they all loved it. And it was delicious. :o)
